FAQs

What’s in it for local businesses?

MInext is Mercer Island’s unique “buy local” website and marketing campaign that includes:

  • MInext website featuring business listings and stories, downloadable collateral, and other resources for promoting your business

  • Local and off-Island promotion through print/digital advertising and social media campaign

  • Cross-promotion through the City and Chamber of Commerce digital channels, including websites, e-newsletters, and social media

What do we ask of your business?

  • Share your story on the MInext website – Send a brief blurb about your business and a photo (of your place, your people, your products - you name it!) to Sarah Bluvas at sarah.bluvas@mercerisland.gov to get started with a general business listing. If you’re interested in engaging more deeply, complete our MInext questionnaire, and we’ll share your story through the campaign.

  • Be a MInext megaphone – Amplify the campaign by sharing via your own social media networks, e-newsletter lists, and other channels you have for reaching your customers.

  • Send us your promos, events, or other fun activities you’re planning for the community – We’ll add your plans to the MInext events calendar and cross-promote through our channels. Send your plans to Sarah Bluvas at sarah.bluvas@mercerisland.gov today!

What do we ask of the Mercer Island community?

Individual community members are just as much a part of MInext as local businesses. Through the campaign, we invite Islanders to:

  • Choose Mercer Island first when planning their next shopping experience – MInext will help connect Islanders with the businesses in their own backyard and encourage them to think local for their shopping and service needs.

  • Get to know the people behind the businesses – MInext will share your business’s story to inspire new and strengthen existing connections between you and the local community. In turn, we hope these connections well help community members have confidence that local businesses are committed to reopening safely and responsibly as well as encourage Islanders to be understanding and patient with you and your staff.

  • Engage with the campaign digitally – Community members will be able to join the conversation virtually by tagging #MInext on any social posts. They also will be able to engage on Instagram and Facebook as well as through your business’s channels.
